My husband to be and i are ready to start a family after we get married.He is italian i am black if their boys he wants to name them salvatore and carmine if their girls i like the names belladonna,raquel,and aldabella,some of my friends think i should name them shalaya or diamond cause they'll have italian last name and they'll be confused thinking their "italian" their words a few of my friends think ashley or amber or britney i can't decide does anyone know any cute baby names with meanings to them i like belladonna cause even though it's italian it means beautiful womanWhat are some cute baby names?

you should balance the italian last name with something more flexible for first name,.... you have the right idea with Diamond etc, what an awesome name to have ! She'll be precious, instead of misplaced. Let your kid feel special and wonderful for being of blended 'race', not dominated by first and last names italian and confused wondering why then partly black. Your kid should love both heritages, and feel great for being both. A pure italian name won't integrate her/his reality. Show your love and your side of your family in her complete name! :)
Think about what the child will be called in school, kids are very mean!



It's a good idea to know the meanings and I really like the fact that Belladonna means beautiful woman.

I had my children's names picked out when I was a kid. My husband agreed to the names but they actually came from 2 tv shows I use to watch. Alyssa - Alyssa Milano (Who's the boss) and Tyler - the one with the cool car (show? Corky with down syndrome was in it) Their middle names were from family names - my father's middle name and my sisters first name. I wanted the names to be different and when I was a child these names were rare - their were Tiffanys', Britneys', Jennifers', Samathas. Too common for me - but now my children names are common as well.

Only good advice - is to like the name and think of the ways it could be turned against the child in a mean way. Or possible mean/nasty nicknames. It should also not be to long or difficult for them to learn -the child could get frustrated.

Diamond?!?!? Sounds stripper-ish. Besides, what's the meaning of that? If you're focused on names with meaning and perhaps heritage, why not consider a family member's name?...like your mother...grandmother or anyone that made a positive contribution to your life...
