Baby name meanings?

Do you believe that the meaning of a name will have any effect on your child's personality?? For example, my daughter Payton is my wild child, very difficult and stubborn. Her name means "aggressive". I'm pregnant with my 3rd baby now, and looking for names but now I'm really noticing the meaning before I choose. Opinions???Baby name meanings?
No, that's putting too much weight to it. Relax! :)
I do think it can have something to do with it. Im not that spiritually into it. My name means Butterfly, and I don't see what I could possibly have in common with that....Baby name meanings?
Yes i think so. Does your daughter know the meaning of her name? because it's sometimes a psycological impulse to live up to what your name is. Example, my name means follower of christ, and i'm catholic. Could be coincidence, could be not. I have come to learn that the name Michelle will result in a problematic kid. I know two people named Michelle, one got herself knocked up and got married at the age of 20 (not one of the nicest people i know) the other smokes and drinks ( but is a great friend). So be careful.Baby name meanings?

Good Luck!
NO....how does a baby know what its name means? Hell, my name is Tara....the meaning is something w/ land and another meaning i have heard is "a tower" but i am short...nothing towards a personality or anything....I think you may be reading into a bit much...
No. I know two people named Brittany (a friend and a girl I grew up with). They are complete opposites. A name may affect how others perceive a person, but personality is a combination of environment and genetics.
I do think the name of a child has an effect on their personality, My son is called Craig which is scottish for Crag or Rock and over the years thats exactly what he has been to me a Rock, He is steady and out going. My Daughter on the other hand has a made up name from her dads, he is called Jon Charles and before she was born I called him Jc So we called her Jaycee she is stubborn, strong willed, independent but also loving and affectionate but I have no idea if her name means anything.
No, I don't. That's why I don't think names are a big deal- the child will describe the name, not the name the child. My daughter Lizzie is very down to earth, calm- so her name seems calm.
Some people regard meanings as pretty high up when choosing a name, but I am not one of them. I hardly pay attention to them and do not know the meanings for all my favorite names - even. I like names that are easy to pronounce, have a lovely sound, and are a bit unique. I don't believe meanings affect personality (that's just me.)

www.babycenter.com has a neat tool where you can search for names by meaning OR find a meaning by typing in the particular name.
well it's interesting to compare what they're like to their name meanings, but that doesn't mean every payton is going to have the same personality
